Certified Medical Assistant

The Certified Medical Assistant will schedule appointments, answers patient inquiries providing routine information and routing calls to clinicians when necessary.

The Certified Medical Assistant responsibilities include:

Attend staff meetings, participates in educational activities and in-services, fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned

Screen patients to obtain health information and symptoms, reviews medical record for completeness, measures vital signs and documents findings in EHR

Assist clinicians with all aspects of the clinical care encounter as needed, including, but not limited to; assisting with examinations, screenings, and minor procedures, preparing exam room, ensuring that all instruments and supplies are present, facilitating patient testing orders, assisting with collecting laboratory specimens, performing laboratory testing as required, processing lab and testing results.

Prepare exam room, maintains adequate supplies in exam/treatment rooms, sterilizes and cleans instruments

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent and three years of medical assistant experience required. 

Must be a certified medical assistant.

Must have the ability to work independently, plan and organize work efficiently and accurately, and communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels.

Executive Director of the University Health Center

The University of Georgia invites applications and nominations for the position of Executive Director of the University Health Center.

The Executive Director of the University Health Center is responsible for the strategic leadership, vision, and direction of all aspects of the operation of the University Health Center. Included is the provision of medical, mental health and counseling services, health promotion and educational outreach programs, and clinical support services. Other responsibilities include the direction of administrative support services, fiscal and facility management, and collaboration with campus and community stakeholders on health and wellness matters, including public health and emergency management/planning.

One of only 17 Joint Commission accredited college health centers, the University Health Center is the on-campus medical hub of the University of Georgia, providing care for UGA’s more than 36,000 students, along with UGA faculty and staff in selected service areas.

The department of Student Health Services is seeking a Chief Medical Officer, at the Boca Raton Campus.

The Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Services will be a part of the Student Health Services team within Student Affairs and will provide direct primary outpatient care for a culturally diverse university student population. Ensure the quality of professional standards at levels required by licensing agencies and as outlined by the American College Health Association. Will also ensure clinical activities are in compliance with Student Health Services policies, state and federal statutes and other applicable guidelines. Supervise and provide consultations for staff physicians, mid-level providers such as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). As an agent of FAU, the Chief Medical Officer will also represent Student Health Services and provide medical input and expertise to other units and departments of the university. Assist the Director with providing overall direction and management of clinical services for Student Health Services. Will also assist and advise in planning, directing and reporting clinical service activity, as well as the operation of the department's medical clinics. May serve on departmental, divisional, university, state or national committees. Qualifications: A Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school and four years of supervisory experience in a primary care or ambulatory care setting with recent experience in direct patient care required. Must have a current Florida medical license or be eligible for a Florida medical license prior to employment, including a dispensing license. A current DEA certificate and a current CPR certification are required. Board certification or eligibility in an appropriate specialty such as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine required. Ability to diagnose and treat health problems and the ability to communicate both professionally and efficiently in verbal and written communication are essential for success in this position. Experience in college health and performing minor office procedures (e.g., suturing, wart removal, I&D, etc.) is preferred. Experience working with accreditation agencies is also preferred. Experience in supervising mid-level providers such as ARNPs and PAs is preferred. Some administrative experience and experience with budgetary assistance, as well as excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills are preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals (such as nurse practitioners, nurses, other physicians), clerical staff, students and diverse cultures.
