Medical Director

Licensure in the State of South Carolina (or license eligible at the time of employment). At least 5 years of primary care practice experience preferred. ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties) approved board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or equivalent. Current CPR/AED certification. Valid Drug Enforcement Administration certification for prescription of controlled substances. Interpret electrocardiograms. Demonstrated ability and sensitivity in working effectively with people with diverse backgrounds and perspectives and have an ability to work collaboratively with provider, professional, and support staff to provide an integrated health and wellness experience for the student. Ideal candidates will have experience in college health and/or adolescent/young adult medicine. The ideal candidate should be able to thrive in a collegial environment that is dedicated to evidenced based medicine in a relaxed atmosphere. Knowledge of theory, principles and practices of medicine especially as it applies to college health. Knowledge of techniques involved in the care and treatment of patients. Knowledge of administrative practices and procedures, rules and regulations and policies and standards used in rendering medical care in a college health setting. Knowledge of recent developments and pertinent federal and state laws, rules and regulations in the field of college health. Ability to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries. Ability to provide substantial supervision and direction to the medical staff. Salary is commensurate with education/experience which exceeds the minimum requirements.

The department of Student Health Services is seeking a Chief Medical Officer, at the Boca Raton Campus.

The Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Services will be a part of the Student Health Services team within Student Affairs and will provide direct primary outpatient care for a culturally diverse university student population. Ensure the quality of professional standards at levels required by licensing agencies and as outlined by the American College Health Association. Will also ensure clinical activities are in compliance with Student Health Services policies, state and federal statutes and other applicable guidelines. Supervise and provide consultations for staff physicians, mid-level providers such as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (ARNPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). As an agent of FAU, the Chief Medical Officer will also represent Student Health Services and provide medical input and expertise to other units and departments of the university. Assist the Director with providing overall direction and management of clinical services for Student Health Services. Will also assist and advise in planning, directing and reporting clinical service activity, as well as the operation of the department's medical clinics. May serve on departmental, divisional, university, state or national committees. Qualifications: A Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited medical or osteopathic school and four years of supervisory experience in a primary care or ambulatory care setting with recent experience in direct patient care required. Must have a current Florida medical license or be eligible for a Florida medical license prior to employment, including a dispensing license. A current DEA certificate and a current CPR certification are required. Board certification or eligibility in an appropriate specialty such as Family Medicine or Internal Medicine required. Ability to diagnose and treat health problems and the ability to communicate both professionally and efficiently in verbal and written communication are essential for success in this position. Experience in college health and performing minor office procedures (e.g., suturing, wart removal, I&D, etc.) is preferred. Experience working with accreditation agencies is also preferred. Experience in supervising mid-level providers such as ARNPs and PAs is preferred. Some administrative experience and experience with budgetary assistance, as well as excellent organizational, prioritization and time management skills are preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other professionals (such as nurse practitioners, nurses, other physicians), clerical staff, students and diverse cultures.
